It’s not uncommon for fall sports teams to return to campus early to practice, but this year members from two teams returned extra early in order to serve others.

Find out how the volleyball and cross-country teams helped at Peace Haven, a Christian Science nursing facility, and at the Center for American Archeology, which offers overnight experiential learning opportunities to school groups.

Other teams also gave back to the community in ways specifically related to their sport. The men’s soccer team held a soccer clinic for the boys at Pere Marquette Juvenile Detention Center. Later in the season, these boys will attend one of the men’s games at the College. And the women’s soccer team conducted a clinic for a high school club team in Canada, where the team competed pre-season, and also for an Alton, Illinois, team of nine-year-olds.

No surprise, in each case both givers and receivers were blessed!
