Technology Takes You to Peru
Long gone are the days when students departing on a Principia abroad would shout out, “I’ll send you a postcard!” Our technology-driven, Internet-based world has enabled today’s travelers to share cultural learning and living experiences in fresh and timely ways. (Of course, postcards are still welcomed.)
That’s certainly the case for the current Principia College group—twenty students, two faculty members, and one resident counselor—taking part in the ten-week Peru Abroad. While it’s common for College abroad groups to put together a post-abroad slide show for the College community, the Peru group is sharing their experiences in real time and in new ways—to anyone who is interested.
What was it like to meet their home stay families? What did students find when they traveled to Islas Ballestas? How did it feel to experience firsthand the enthusiasm for Christian Science in a remote part of Lima? Thanks to several student bloggers, you can travel and learn alongside them (and even read one member’s Peru-inspired poetry).
And that’s not all; students are posting audio updates to share further details and insights into about what they’re learning and the memorable discoveries that could only happen on a Principia abroad!
